Wooten gets early morning work in

The Dawgs got off to an early start this morning which helped to stem the heat that they had to endure yesterday.

On the injury front

Crowell and Samuel were still in green today however, both were going through non-contact drills. Crowell still seems ahead of Samuel as far as getting out of the green jersey goes. It would not be surprising to see Crowell in a regular practice jersey come Monday. It may be a few days longer for Samuel.

Rumors began swirling after practice yesterday about injuries to nose guards Kwame Geathers and John Jenkins. Today, Jenkins was not on the practice field but according to sports medicine director Ron Courson, his injury is simply a “mild hamstring pull”. Kwame Geathers was held out of practice Friday but was back at it this morning with apparently no restrictions. No word on why he did not practice on Friday.

Yesterday, Mike Bobo said freshman wide receiver Malcolm Mitchell got “banged up”. He was not on the practice field today.

Other Notes

The Dawgs were in full pads today with tomorrow being a day off. Wednesday the Dawgs will have a “practice game” for Boise State at Sanford Stadium. As always, it will be closed to the public.

Very limited players are available due to Fan day later this afternoon. Reminder, Fan Day will be held today at Sanford Stadium from 3-5 P.M. Fans are not allowed to bring items for players to autograph. Instead each fan will be given two posters to get signatures on.

Another note of interest for many are the new Nike Pro Combat uniforms that the Dawgs will be wearing against Boise State in the first game of the year. Players will have those jerseys on today. You can also follow this “Spread the Red” link to see what they will look like.
