Ten more tips for Mizzou

Out and about today, we met more neat locals (Brian Treece and Mary Phillips) that gave us some new spots to add to our list. What a treat to share a table with these two at Booches over mini-burgers and bloody marys. We hit it off immediately with talk of historic preservation, the culture of college towns, journalism, philanthropy and travel. Anyone who loves Garden and Gun magazine is a fast friend of mine.
Let me share their additions to our list this morning for their new friends in the SEC.
1. They said CC’s City Broiler is a good steakhouse.
2. Harpo’s is a fun sports bar. Brian remembers when the shuttle from there to the game was a quarter but he is betting it is up to a dollar or two now. Patio seating makes this a favorite spot.
3. Tropical Liqueurs is a throw back to a 1970s frozen drink bar. Open container is against the law here but apparently if you lose the signature red straw, noone messes with you.
4. Teller’s Gallery and Bar is casual with good food and great service.
5. & 6. For GOOD local coffeehouses these two spots are across the street from each other: Kaldi’s Coffee Roasting Company or Lakota Coffee Company and Roaster
7. They suggested Ernie’s Cafe and Steakhouse on Walnut for breakfast.
8. Flat Branch Pub & Brewing boasts the largest bar in Columbia with a diverse food menu and hand-crafted beer. Named One of the Best Bars in America by ESQUIRE magazine!
9. Flat Branch Pub is next to the KATY trail which they said would be a great place to take a run tomorrow morning to shake your pending headache from your night time fun. Click here for maps.
