Sure, where we’re ranked might mean certain things, but bottom line is that it’s just another week. We’re still in it and this is everything that we’ve worked for all year.”
Senior linebacker Christian Robinson, who had a career-high 13 tackles in his final game between the hedges.
“We have to be ready. This is the biggest game of the year so far, so we have to come out this week and be prepared. The offensive line was playing great and I was just running behind them. We were just going from the beginning. We wanted to start the game with tempo and we did and then kept it up the entire game. We just rode (the momentum) the whole game.”
Freshman tailback Todd Gurley, who just missed the 100-yard rushing mark again with his 97 yards on 12 carries and two touchdowns.
“We’re going to go into this week like it’s any other. This was the situation that we wanted to be in and now we’re here. We’re going to game plan, practice hard and then when it’s time for the game we’ll be ready to go.”
Redshirt freshman tight end Jay Rome, who tallied his first career touchdown on a 24-yard reception from Aaron Murray.
“We put our foot on the pedal from the start and didn’t let up the entire game. I think that we executed in all three phases of the game—offense, defense and special teams—and it showed out there today.”
Junior wide receiver Rhett McGowan, who also tallied a touchdown on an 11-yard pass from Murray.
“We are going to enjoy this win today, then go into the film room tomorrow and try to find a way to beat Alabama. Last year, we didn’t know how to finish. Against LSU last year (in SEC title game), we beat them for 30 minutes then they came out and beat us for the next 30 minutes so it was a real embarrassment, so we’ve got to keep playing for 60 minutes and just finish. Jake Scott is a legend and just to be in the same sentence with him is just an honor. And as far as Alabama goes, we’ve been underdogs all year, we’re used to it and it’s all on us. We’re not worried about Alabama, it’s all on us and we know if we go out there and play ball, we can handle business.”
Senior safety Bacarri Rambo, who had eight tackles, two forced fumbles, one he took away from Tech running back Robert Godhigh to prevent a touchdown, and also an interception, which gave him 16 picks for his career and enabled him to tie former great Jake Scott at the top of the UGA record book.
“If you watched the same game that I did, it was a pretty good thumping. We could not slow them down and we could not finish drives offensively. It was almost like de ju vu. The same kid (Rambo) made a play against us two years ago when he took the ball out of our guy’s hands. You have to give him some credit because that play was a killer. We couldn’t match Georgia score for score, which is what we have been doing all season.”
