Rockin' Rob Sherrell's Living in the 50s Hoop Dawgs report

Welcome to the Bulldawg Illustrated Hoops Report!

It’s just like Thelma and Louise, if by Thelma you mean a fine lineage of AKC Bulldogs and by Louise you mean a bunch of bottom dwelling, mud-covered reptiles. Our beloved Dawgs got their first conference win of 2013 this past Saturday against a bad LSU team. And that’s not even the best thing. The best thing is even though we’re not real good, the SEC is littered with bad teams this year. We can win a few more games if we’re aren’t careful. We can consistently compete with about anyone in the conference with the exception of Florida. The good news is we just played the Gators a couple of weeks ago. So who’s up next for our Dawgs?

Darn. We’re playing Florida for the second time in five games? Well that’s a kick in the pants. Every time I have to watch the Gators all I hear about is McDonald All-Americans. They’ve had 12 or 13 in the last ten years. We’ve had one in the last 20. And that’s KCP. However, I’m sick of McDonalds All-American. Going forward, I want some Wendy’s All-Americans. Or some Burger King All-Americans as long as they are in no way related to that creepy mascot thats parades around in those weird tights. I’ll even take an All-American Burger All-American from Fast Times at Ridgemont High. At least they had the special “special sauce”. So Little Billy Donovan is bringing his Mickey D AAs up here for a tussle? Well we always have our secret weapon ready for them. What is that you may ask? The Stegasaurus?

While our Dawgs have not won in Gainesville since 2001 and the margin of victory has been approximately 15 points, we’ve won three of the last four in Athens with our only loss coming in double overtime. Every time the Gators show up here and see the age of our locker rooms they think they’ve traveled back in time to some period just after WWII. When they see the plumbing and the locker rooms, they start believing they have to pass four times before they can take a shot. They’re looking for Richie, Potsie, and Ralph Mouth to come pulling up in a Studebaker. So the two or three McDonald’s All-Amercians don’t scare me at all. But one thing does. The Stegman renovations. Lets keep our fingers crossed that they don’t think they’re allowed to play 21st century basketball. That could spell doom for our Dawgs. Everyone show up in your best throw back attire tonight. It seems to always keep their Mighty McDAAs off balance. Let’s just hope one more trip in the way back machine is just what the doctor ordered for our Dawgs! See you in 1950 at 8 pm!
