Logan Gray and the WildDawg formation

Spring practices have begun and G-Day is right around the corner!
For those of you who were at the G-Day game last year, you probably remember seeing Logan Gray take a few snaps at quarterback. That was the first time most of us had a chance to see him play football, and he lit up the hedges with his burning speed. After seeing him dart outside the pocket and turn up the sidelines for a big gain, my first thought was to the previous G-Day when we all got the chance to see Knowshon the Great for the first time. “Wow”, I thought. “That was something special”. Some of you may have shared that memory, while others, I’m sure, had your thoughts flash back to 2005, year of the Shock Dog. Logan Gray’s debut was memorable and he can flat out fly.
Now, I’m a big fan of Joe Cox. Joe Cox deserves every opportunity. In fact, I wrote a blog back in December titled Joe Cox Rocks and I’ll stick by it. He should start because he is a winner. But Logan Gray needs to play, and he needs to play behind center. He should never return another punt. Or, more accurately, never fair catch another punt. But how about a WildDawg formation of some sort? My idea of a WildDawg formation would be using Gray under center once in a while, sort of like Florida used Tebow to spell Leak in 2006. Only we wouldn’t use Gray between the Guards, but rather scramble him out of the pocket on a triple option-type play call. He could pitch it outside, keep it himself, hit a TE on a drag, or throw it deep to Green. If the coaches are bent on getting Gray on the field, lets put him at his natural position. He can complement Cox and bring something to the playbook that we have been lacking since Shockley took his SEC Championship ring to the Atlanta Falcons.
Am I inviting trouble with this theory? Or are you on board? And who is going to be the player we see for the first time at G-Day this year that makes you froth at the mouth for September 5th to get here?

Nice thought...can Bobo handle this sort of thing?
That is a good question. Bobo has done some good things (it was nice to see the toss sweep or student body left/right brought back into the playbook) but the his play calling in the South Carolina game in 2007 still resonates as horrible in my memory (40+ pass attempts to 12 rushing attempts from # 24).
The WildDAWG formation...love it Drewski! I remember in last years G-Day Game Gray showed that he's got a pretty good arm. That one TD he threw down aroung the 10 or 15 yard line looked like a BB when he let it go. As far as who I can't wait to see on April 11th, WOW the list is long. Of course I want to see Caleb King, but really want to see Carlton Thomas and the two QB's. 2009 SEC Champs!! Hunker Down!!!!
