Anytime of the year (or day) is the right time to loathe the Vols

Here are a few reasons I want to beat UT in Knoxville this year:
They reside in the SEC east and I abhor not controlling our own destiny by mid-October.
They are the only team in the SEC east that owns the series lead against us; 15 wins vs 20 losses with two ties.
We tore down the goalposts at home after breaking the aforementioned streak; somewhat understandable in the fact that it exonerated 11 calendar years of frustration, but still bothers me in that it ever came to that.
2007’s game at Neyland was an absolute disaster and neither of our two best players, Knowshon or Rennie, started the game.
They hung 51 points on us in Sanford Stadium as recently as 2006.
The 1992-1995 football seasons. Those were years two through five of the unfathomable 9 game winless streak. Particularly troubling was the 1992 game when Heath Shuler led them on a 70 yard, two minute drive and the 1995 game in which Robert Edwards tore up his ankle after posting 157 yards in the first half in Knoxville. 1992-1995 were also my undergraduate years in Athens so I’m still holding a major league grudge.
A win in 2009 and our Dawgs are 7 – 3 against them this decade; that number would begin to neutralize the sting from being owned in the 1990s. At the very least it is sexier than 6-4.
Orange hats, orange shirts, and Rocky Top.
My personal sports nemesis, Peyton Manning, won a super bowl and seemingly stars in every commercial on television during the season.
Former Vol hardballer, Luke Hochevar, is on my fantasy baseball team and his ERA is currently 36.00. Err, make that Luke Hochevar WAS on my fantasy baseball team.
Every Volunteer fan that I’ve spoken with recently has bought into their new regime, this despite all of the nonsense that is going on up there with half naked coaches running around insulting the rest of the SEC and even high school administrators. I’d like to see the circus that ensues following a woodshed performance from the Dawgs.
And finally, in 2005 Joe Cox was placed on the traveling team to Knoxville as a redshirt freshman so that he could experience a big game atmosphere in case he was needed later that season. When DJ went down against Arkansas a few games later, the shirt inexplicably stayed on Cox, which may have cost us another national championship and ironically sets us up for him to lead our boys in 2009. This will be Cox’s third trip to Knoxville and I’d like to see him beat them in a season that I felt he never should have had.
In closing, this blog topic would’ve probably been more poignant had it waited until October, but all of the Lane Kiffin stories that have been in the news of late have just served to remind me how much I dislike Tennessee. And while we’ve beaten the Vols in 6 of the past 10 contests, they’ve still found a way to absolutely crush our spirits during three of those wins. Specifically, the 2007 whipping, which had a hand in keeping us from playing for the national championship, the 2006 game in which they erased a large first half deficit en route to hanging 51 between the hedges, and the 2004 loss when we entered the game ranked # 3 and they beat us 19-14.

Now that was a fun and passionate blog post to read! There is no doubt how you feel, haha! Rocky Top is always a good game! Much like FLORIDA who I loathe most, there are always lots of mullets and orange cheering rowdily against us. Easily the loudest stadium ever. Ahhhhh, I can't wait for football season!
I hate everyone equally in the SEC. A few jsut tend to stick out. I was at all 3 of the losses in recent years but blowing that halftime lead in 06 really stung. Not only that Rocky Top maybe one of the worst chants known to man. People always tell me that Dawg fans are the worst (poor loosers and worse winners). Maybe they're right but I watched a Vol(female) spit on the back of my firend as we walked out. That sealed the deal for me. Now all i have i 4 letter words for them. I appreciate the offer and will continue to read Andrew's blog. I'm glad he walked into my office that day. GOOD STUFF
