Georgia’s schedule this Fall is tough, as always – it is not as daunting as last year, since Oklahoma State, Arizona State and LSU are being replaced by Colorado and Mississippi State.
The big early key for the Bulldogs SEC championship hopes is, as always, how Georgia fares with South Carolina in Columbia. A critical three game stretch then comes, as Georgia goes to Mississippi State and Colorado, then comes home to face Tennessee. The Vols have beaten the Dogs three of the last four years, with each of the margins coming by at least 18 points.
Florida as always, will tell a large story about Georgia’s season. Winning at Auburn is always difficult, and the Tigers figure to have much more firepower this year. Then of course there’s Tech.
When it comes to the league, as tough as Columbia and Auburn will be, it all comes down to Tennessee and Florida. Since the league split into division in 1992, Georgia has not beaten both the Volunteers and Gators in the same year. The Bulldogs haven’t done it since 1988.
If Georgia can turn that trick, then the odds are pretty good that the Bulldogs could return to the SEC Championship Game.
