ATHENS, Ga. — Georgia equestrian senior Addyson Cord and sophomore Maddy Darst each earned another award for the 2017-18 season after being named the National Collegiate Equestrian Association’s Rider of the Year in Equitation on the Flat and Equitation Over Fences, respectively, the NCEA has announced.

Cord’s Rider of the Year nod came after a team-high 16 wins in Equitation on the Flat. The senior captain scored a season-high 89 at Auburn in Flat and earned two MOP honors for her rides this season.  A native of Loomis, California, Cord was also named to the All-Championship Team at the SEC Championship and earned Equitation on the Flat Rider of the Month honors from the conference in September. Additionally, Cord was named the SEC Equitation on the Flat Co-Rider of the Year and earned NCEA Second Team All-America honors.

Similarly to Cord, Darst, a sophomore from Lebanon, Ohio, compiled a team-high 15 wins in Equitation Over Fences en route to her Rider of the Year award.  She posted the highest score of all Georgia riders with a 90 in Fences against South Carolina.  She earned three Most Outstanding Performance honors and national recognition as a two-time NCEA Rider of the Month. Darst was also named the SEC Equitation Over Fences Rider of the Year and earned NCEA First Team All-America honors.

Cord graduated on May 4th with a degree in chemistry, while Darst will return to the lineup as a junior in the fall.
