Georgia safety Rashad Roundtree announced via Twitter on Wednesday evening that he would be retiring from the sport of football due to suffering a number of concussions over his playing career.

The junior defensive back was a four-star signee in the University of Georgia’s 2015 recruiting class out of Lakeside High School from Evans, GA. He played in 24 games between 2015 and 2016 for the Bulldogs, but due to being on concussion protocol did not see the field this past season.

This was clearly not an easy decision for Roundtree and he went on to thank those that supported him through the years from family and friends to his teammates.

We wish Roundtree much success in his post-football playing days and want to thank him for suiting up for the red and black the past several seasons.
